Nolin?

Does anybody have any reports or info on Nolin Lake? I will be down in that area this weekend.

It's been pretty slow for us but with temps warming up fishing should get good middle to end of the week if the water will clear up. It's been muddy, but if you know where to go you can still catch some fish :D I'll probably go middle of the week ill try to post. Dunno weather im going to green or nolin yet though but will post when I get back.

Went today to nolin and had 19 crappie and a flat head catfish. That will be good eating :) Just to much wind and boats for the fish to bite really good today. Gonna try first of the week.

Went monday and caught a limit of 10 to 14 inch fish and would have caught more but it was just to windy. they are bitting good{blacks}.

Where would you recommend on Nolin to go and how deep?

Sorry for the questions, I enjoy crappie fishing, I'm just not that good at it :)

We went both Tuesday (4/6) and Friday (4/9). The lake is still at winter pool. . Water was pretty stained - 70 degrees on Tuesday and down to about 64 on Friday. Tuesday we caught quite a few small ones and several nice keepers in and around stick ups - both Blacks and Whites. Mostly on minnows. But the wind was brutal. Friday started out better, but it was cool and by afternoon the wind came up again making it very difficult to fish. Also started to have a lot of boat traffic with more than a few idiots. Caught lots of small ones and two or three keepers, all whites, along with a few small mouths. Again mostly on minnows but a few on tubes. Both days we fished out of the Iberia ramp.

Would be interested to hear from those of you who really know this lake, where the best crappie fishing is at?

We have always done well in Rock Creek. My Dad was starting to catch some earlier in the week, but the cold front shut them down. We caught 10 keepers on Saturday, but had to work our butts off to get them. Caught 1 keeper in 3 hours this morning and came home. Water is 62 to 66 degrees and the fish should be going crazy. All females were full of eggs and starting to turn a little red. Caught most of our fish on curly tails grubs. Color didn't seem to matter as long it had chartreuse in it. We couldn't figure it out. It was nice to be on the water anyway.

I am planning on going Saturday and Sunday out of Wax. I haven’t been fishing on Nolin since 1992 when I left Kentucky and now I am back home again. I am not asking for someone honey-hole, just somewhere I might catch some crappie. My fishing buddy from NC is coming next weekend and I would like to show him we have crappie in Kentucky as well. I would also take any information on fishing Walleye on Nolin as well.

if i could give any advice that i thought would help you it would be fish from wax to pondrosa. there is a lot of fish staged up in that part of the lake. some are on the nest and some are close[blacks].the whites are still full of eggs so it will be a couple of fun weeks to come. just whatch the temp and go from there
