Fishing pier for night fishing around ATL?

I moved to metro ATL area about 6 months ago. Before then, I used to do some night fishing at fishing piers in state parks or county fishing lakes around where I lived. Imagine in a cool summer night, sitting on a chair, wetting the line, and a nice cold beer. Catching or not doesn't seem to matter that much.

Does anyone care to share a few locations around ATL where I could do that? Let's say within an hour of driving. Of course, it's better to be a "safe" place to hang out.

It's just a bit tiring to drive about 1.5 hour to WP like I did at night two days ago when I had to kill the itch......

don`t know much about that aera but lanier and allatoona is closer there should be a pier or a bank to fish off of .the lake at stone mountain may have one. next few weeks should be some good bank fishing for crappie . the water needs to be a little warmer and with a few sunny dayes i think it will be good .

Buford dam park has one. It will be open starting on 4/11.

war hill park on lanier has a peir but haveing a cold beer is not a option there. park rules and they are inforced.

You can try West Point, 85 South, they have a pier at Rocky Point. I also fish from the boat dock, I am respectful of the boaters coming up to the dock, since its used by them. i havent run into any problems myself, but i've heard of a case were someone was fishing from it and got in to confrentation with a boater, but its not a bad place to fish. Just my 2 cents.

As a matter of fact, I have been there a couple times. It's a nice place to fish. It was about 40min drive from where I lived, and it's about 1hr40min from where I live. So not a fuel-efficient option as of now. Thanks tho.

I checked out the parks at the south end of Lanier, spent me about 6 hours. Some are still closed. But man, bank fishing areas there are nice.......

Beer is just a bonus, fishing and peaceful environment are what I look for..... Thanks for the info guys....
