I usually fish the brush and structure in the middle of bays, but lately I've wanted to try casting to the banks when the black crappie move in.
How far back in the bays should I look? Also, any tips as to what type of banks to look for?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I like to cast a 1/16 to 1/32 oz jig under a Wally Marshall rattling cork. I like the yellow/chartreuse and black/chartreuse 1 1/2" tubes. I try to find chunk rock banks and pea gravel points until the water gets up in the timber. Then I look for the edges of flooded timber and bushes around a bank with a little rock or firm bottom.Quote:

totally agree there! When i cant spider rig i'm lost as an easter egg! I could cast all day using god knows how many different colors and approches and maybe pick up one two crappie that just felt like ending their lives..I think it could be a confidence thing but i never have done well at all casting...any of you pros have an extra spot in your boat for a seminar or tutorial let me know!
I'm not a bad jig fisherman when I get in the right spots, but I sure haven't got the confidence to pick the spots yet. This weekend was a bad time to start trying!
