Excel
I've ridden in a 17' stick steer with a 50 Merc...not sure which bottom...the boat is solid!!! sorry no livewell...boat was setup to duck hunt...we drove it in shallow water and trees, a lil open water...I think it is a great boat!...if the pocketbook will stand it...I'll be cruising in one next duck and crappie season!

thank you badbull. I have always liked the looks of a stick steer boat. only rode a few times in one and never have drove one.
-
I drove over to the factory where they make them in Mountain View and looked at them. The crappie series 1860 is a good looking boat except the rod storage. It will only hold 3 long rods.
-
thanks creekslick! can you put rod that are broke down to 2 pieces? do they have a build in fuel tank?
-
it will only hold 3 broken down. It does have a built in tank. If they redesign the rod box I would sure look hard at one but like it is I don't want one.
-
thanks again creekslick. it is a nice layout for a all around fishing boat just if the rod box was better. I like how its power by something other then a mercury. last mercury I had was a nitemare to own.
-
Definitely would recommend the yamaha 90 on the 860. I have a 860 war eagle with a 90 yamaha it really makes a nice rig that will get you where you are going in pretty good order. A 70 will work just fine but it is nice to have that little bit of extra giddy up when you want or need it.

I will have a 115 four stroke on mine whether it is a War Eagle Predator or an Excel 1860.

wow creekslick a 115hp your wanting to fly to the honey holes!! am in the same boat as you I like them war eagle boats too but them excel look nice. what was there factory like when you went up there creekslick? soswine how fast does your 860 war eagle run with a 90hp yamaha?
