How much heat to apply to a jig head before placing in powder.
I do 3 seconds on 1/32and 1/16th dip them fast then shake the excess off on the rim of jar. Hope that helps.
Safest way to answer that question is with a ? What are you using to head the jig head up with???
Heat guns on 1/16 or 1/32 4-5 seconds each side then dip
Torch same size head even less then dip
alcohol lamp I've heard 5-6 seconds each side then dip
It depends on what you're using and practice practice practice till you get them just the way you want.

i use a heat gun and i heat the jig up just hot enough to make the paint stick and then repeat the process till i get the thickness im looking for and then some times i dip the jig cold and start from there but powder paint dont like surfaces so if any gets on the jig its very little
For me, torches, heat guns, and alcohols lamps are tedious! I can heat 10-50 at a time in my toaster oven!!! Heat to 350* (375* got 1/16 and under) grab one and swish, return it to the oven and grab another... so on and so forth!... this way I know the exact temperature of my jig, it won't be too hot to cake the powder on thicker than it needs to be.... nor will it be too cool to not get the proper amount of paint on the jig.
... but I think I'm the only one that does it this way
