Whiskers is right you want the tiny shad or the nail tail. They don't stay on the hook is well as most tubes, but you can put a dab of crazy glue at the top where it meets the jighead. They really catch fish.
If I'm casting or shooting docks, which is what I do about 95% of the time ... I use the 1.5" Tiny Shad.
I don't see why a curly tail version wouldn't work just fine (if you're into using curly tails) ... I just never got into using a curly tail ... mostly just use tubes &/or assassins.
I've purchased mine from several different places .... but, mostly I've found them at Backwater's Outfitters &/or Wal-Mart (in Lexington, Ky).
BassAssassin now has a 2" "Pro" version ... and I may have to check those out, myself :p
There are other mfg's that have a clone version of the Panfish Assassin, too. Bobby Garland makes a 2" Baby Shad ... & there's the Southern Pro Crappie Slugs 1.5". There are some different color patterns, & some of the same, in each of the different brands.
... cp
