3m 5200

any one ever use this stuff. Guy told me its a permanent repair on aluminum boats.

I have never used any but I think I remember Wannabe saying something about it.

We have a 14 ft boat that is riveted. My 3M rep came by and said don't weld it use the 5200. Said it was a fix. Just put it on and let it set for 24 hrs and see.

I've used it for on fiberglass and all my thru hull fittings, I can't say about aluminum for sure but its great stuff. It does take awhile to cure though. I believe I bought it at Walley World.

5200 is said to be permanent adhession and sealant meant for below the waterline fittings such as livewell intakes. That being said, it's good stuff, but also you can dent it with a fingernail. If you ever go to remove it you'll need some 5200 remover. If this is a 50 dollar pond beater, go for it but on the inside only, if on the bottom outside it'll eventually get worn off from dragging, but still would last a good long time. Keep in mind if you use it, you will never be able to weld it up like it should be.
