Large Fish Fry
Did this last year but can not remember yesterday so need some help again.
Our church is having a game supper and my part is helping with the fish.
We will be having around 150-180 hungry folks.
Q. 1. How much fish
2. How much oil
3. How much dry batter
Do appreciate your help! Just wish you could be here to enjoy the good time!

We figure 1/4 to 1/2 lb. per person. Depending on how many are adults and how many are men. Couldn't tell you on the oil or batter..

Thanks buffalo13--that's a good start. Figure we will have four cookers going. Maybe get (2) 5 gallon jugs of peanut oil and several bags of batter. Found out today we have 70-80 lbs of fish being donated. Not crappie but hey, it's free and going to a good cause.

That should be enough fish....I would say 9 gallons of tater salad...and maybe 4 gallons of slaw.
-
10 gallons of pinto beans
3-5 gallons of tartar sauce & catsup
40-50 lemons cut in sections (6 sections per lemon)
If you want to round out the condiments not including hush puppies or fries.

Thanks-poppop and breambuster!
The good thing about these suppers is everyone pitches in, so all I have to do is help with the fish.
Last I heard, items on the menu included:
wild turkey, deer, fish, elk, dove, maybe bear and rabbitt. And all the trimmings. Gonna be good.

I love fish cooked in peanut oil. We had to quit using it because we had some members that were severly alergic to it. We went with a resturant grade cooking oil that would take the heat and it seems to do ok.. Just a thought..

Good point buffalo13! Guess I better check with the organizers.

I would try to get more cookers if you can and more oil.

I may have overlooked it, but I didn't see a date on this. I may be too late. But I have a good recipe for tartar sauce and a great recipe for breader. Be glad to share it with you. If it isn't to late, just pm me and give me your email address and I will email the recipes to you. We just did a fish fry for the senior adults at our church and they loved these reipes.
