I've never tried to tie any bugs before.But have used thousands of hellgramites through the younger years.attica sparked me.It looks more like a black scorpion,lol,so,it just might work out here in Arizona.Going to try it out this weekend.Think it will work?I hope so,takes kinda a long time to tie,but really fun.If it catches something,It will be called "The Black Scorpion"lol.Great name,I think.

It's a 1/16 steelie do it jighead with no collar,and one of them Mustad thick BLN size 4 hooks.
Does anybody sell legs with a half circle in the middle that would go around the body and make it easier to tie in?

When you start adding appendages, they take longer and longer to tie. I've spent 30+ minutes on 1 jig trying to tweak it just right, finish it off, then put another in the vise and start all over. The second one is always faster. ;) Rubber legs give me fits as well.......

I need some hard legs,lol.Even if they don't have any action to them in the water.My buddie said the same thing,skip.I think that he would be scared tying it to his line,lol.
Why hard legs? Just curious. If you want a stiffer material there is Larva lace body material and Body Stuff from Hagen's. You could also use craft lace for a really solid stiff leg.
How are you tying them in? There is an easy way to do it and get them to stand straight out but it is hard to explain. Basically an hourglass wrap as follows:
Wrap thread to point where leg is going to be
Wrap once over leg
Wrap once over hook shank
Once back over leg in opposite direction
Over hook and repeat until secure I usually wrap 3 times in each direction
Remember to make a full wrap over the legs and hook shank, not a half, maybe it is 1 and half wraps each time. Lie I said hard to explain but you will see the difference when you get it right. Secures legs really well without a lot of wraps.
I will see if I can find the tying diagram, is on a fly tying site I used to visit a lot.
I was thinking hard legs so my thread did'nt cut them in half,lol.I'm learning how much pressure that I can put on them though.They are just a pain,just starting though.Everything is a pain.lol.I'll try your way and see.I don't know how exactly I did mine.
