thinking of fishing Lake Peckerwood next weekend. Have never fished it but heard before duck season it was spot on for crappie fishing! Any feedback on the lake would be appreciated as we will be flying blind from Hot Spring County

If I had a camper I might join ya and we'd both go at it blind. I fished the lake a couple of times last year for the first time and did good on bream and cats in June but haven't set out to try the crappie yet. I know of an older man that would hit it hard right after duck season and do quite well just trolling. Wish I had more info for ya. Good luck.
thanks hotrod98 me and a buddy try to pick at least one lake every year we have never fished
I have been fishin peckerwood 25 years, to make your trip worthwhile i would wait till the water warms up at least mid march when the crappie move to shallow water in the willows and coves. now there will not be visable cover you can see and trolling is not that good, but when they move in shallow and you can find them it dont get any better. After the spawn you can start catching them in the lillie pads on the north end of the lake. However the best time to me is in dead summer whenthey start to pump water out and all them stumps start showing , seems the hotter the better. Hermans landing is on the south end is best in spring , red barn is best when fishin pads and back to the south end when the water goes down.
thanks for the info.
