MK quick release bracket?

I have a new Maxxum that is replacing an old AT on my 16' aluminum boat. I think I would like to put a quick release bracket on the boat to make it easier to remove the motor for duck hunting.

Minn Kota makes a composite model with a puck that stays on the boat and a aluminum model that looks like the bottom plate stays on the boat and the top plate slides onto the bottom piece from the front (can't tell for sure by the pics online)

Anyone have any experience with both kinds?
Is one better than the other?

Prices are virtually the same for either one.

I've got the metal slide type. Works good for me. I rarely remove the TM, but it's handy when you need it. The slide type has a place for a padlock, that's makes it a little more secure.

Does the bottom half of the bracket stay on the boat when the motor is removed?
Do you have any dislikes about the bracket?
Does the screw vibrate loose?

Yes the bottom half stays with the boat. I used elastic lock nuts with mine, they might have been supplied with it, I can't remember. It used the same bolt pattern as the motor, so no need to drill more holes.

This is the mounting bracket that I have installed on my pontoon boat.
The attaching pin setup has the capability of accepting a small lock for security purposes.
The mounting plate has a small footprint, so when the motor is taken off you have a small one half inch thick place left on the boat.
I have not had any problems with the attachment bolts loosening.
I am very satisfied with the bracket.

I need either the mka-23 or mka-42 for my application.

It sounds like either style should suit my needs. I guess I will flip a coin or just go with the one I can find the cheapest.

Yes I use same one, bottom plate bout same size as top plate right? Had it for bout 10 years now no problems what so ever. Few times when I left boat in water overnite @ fishing outing I always put small lock thru that locking Holes -just to keep the honest people honest;)

I have the composite one and it has done good for me. Easy on and off.

I have this one also. No problems either. It can be padlocked to the boat also.
Works good for me.

I have an PD with a transducer mounted on it. Is there a way to put a plug in the 'ducer line so that I don't have to take it all the way out to remove the troller??
