It is my understanding that you have to travel at 3-5 mph to get a good picture with Humminbird SI-DI ...Is this also true for Lowrance...
If this is the case I can see no advantage of having SI-DI at the trolling motor...How many trolling motors will pull your boat at 3-5 mph?...Am I confused about this? I would really like to have DI at the trolling motor..
Not true at all. I have collected a WIDE variety of crystal clear Side and Down Images at speeds near or below 1 mph. Some are included below. The key is to adjust the chart speed to match your boat speed....whether you're moving slow or fast.
The first picture is a mixture of crappies and white bass, suspended in a big eddy. The second picture is a school of deep water crappie. The third picture is of a single fish sitting in a depression in the washboard bottom of a river.

Don, look at my screen captures above. From right around 1 mph to almost stationary. SI and DI work just fine at slow speeds as long as you make the appropriate adjustment in chart speed.
