Take a look at this boat and look at the rail for rod holders behind the console. Shows up pretty good in the first pic.

Right now I have 2 of the T-09-H driftmasters on the side just about the console for pulling cranks with. Love the position and the holders, but hate the base/attachment mechanism. The Tbar always wants to rotate just to the wrong angle. Plus, I only have 4 holders.

I've got 4 planer boards coming my way, so I could run up to 8 cranks at a time with them if I had the holder capacity.

So, I'm thinking about installing a 7/8" rail similar to the one on that boat on top of my gunnels. Figure the rail will be about 1.5 to 2" above the gunnel and I can use the holders I have + 4 more.

Figured it up and a 36" rail for each side would be sub $40 each side plus 4 holders and rail bases.....which ain't cheap BTW.

Screw the rails...Buy the boat, that is a sweet ride!

a buddy of mine built elevated rails down both sides of his boat out of pipe. they double as rod carriers as well as using them for pulling cranks.

check out the side rails on it. OK, ignore the RIGGED UP rod holders, I replaced them with Driftmasters this fall

DD, do you find that all that white on the interior kind of sun blinds you after a day on the lake in the Summer? Seems like it would.

How's about chopping off 2 sections of 3' each from a spot you don't use much for me?

that's what the Bimini top is for. Don't think Nessa would like it if I chopped off 3 or so feet off each side but you can ask HER about that at the FJ.
NO, haven't sold it YET. We were talking about it this past weekend, need to get out there and finish doing the work on it. I HAVE to find a cheap welder to weld a spot on the trailer. The replace the runners underneath and get some seats redone. Then lastly, get the sun damage out of the tops of the sides. THINK you called the gunnels? I found some neat info on one of the boards here on Crappie dot com about wet sanding and stuff. Make it look like brand new. I WILL sell it as is for $5,250 though so if someone wants it at $5,250 instead of the $6,500 that I'm going to ask when I get her fixed, speak up now

I'm planning on doing the same thing, but I'm pretty sure what I am going to do IS a bad idea. I bought 4 of the c-clamp style basses that driftmaster makes with the 3/8 threaded hole on the top of the clamp. I'm gonna get me some railing and put a bolt through each end into a c-clamp clamped to my gunnel. I ordered a hi-tec 4-rod set-up for spider rigging and went ahead and ordered 4 extra holders with bases. It was only an extra $50 for the 4 additional holders with bases, beats the hell out of $12-15 each for the holders and then another $8-14 for the bases like you would have to pay for driftmasters. I will take the 4 off of the t-bar and put them on the rail on one side and then the 4 extra on the other. I put the clamps on my gunnels and tightened them down as tight as I could get them and they do not budge, I can shake the whole boat with them, but I'm still worried that they will somehow come loose on me.
