Deer hair

Hey Guys, I have a guy that hunts alot and wanted to know if I needed any deer hair or coyote tail ? if i got some from him do you have to have it tanned or dried to use it?????, do you guys use any stuff like this ?if so what part and how do you prepair it to use ? this may be a dumb :confused:? but asking.

I use mainly bucktail,but use some coyote hair as well.How long is the hair on the coyote tail?I would think that hides need to be dried,not tanned to be used. Coyote skins sell for $29.95 on ebay.it's used a lot in flytying.

all animal hides or stretched out on a stretcher or board and let dry you can put borax on the hide to keep the smell down.on deer tails make sure that you take the bone out of it put Borax on tail and let dry. Any time that you can get animal fur to use go for it.

man i would love a yotie tail but they hard to come by here as for drying them i use a mix of boraxe and kosher salt to dry deer skins and there tails and some tree rats tails
