Hi Tek rod holders
What about the Hi Tek rod holders? Do you guys like them? Will they work for pulling cranks? They look to me like they are well made and he has about the best price that I have found for rod holder systems. Give me some input here as I am getting ready to re-rig my boat and I am wanting to put 4 sets of 4 rod systems on it.

I use them in my small boat pulling cranks and have no had a problem but I have only use it a couple of times.

The way they look...it kinda looks like if you had them positioned with the rods straight out the side of the boat....it would pull the rod out at the front of the rod holder. But I have talked with several folks that have used them and they say that they have not had a problem with that. I like the way the Driftmasters look the best but the Hi Teks are a good bit cheaper ( about 144 bucks cheaper on a complete set of four, 4 pole systems ).

We use them in my tourn. partners boat. We pull cranks, long line and spider rig. I don't believe you can beat them on quailty and value. He has a four sets in the boat also. Pm me if you got any other questions.

Don't have Hi-Teks, but the design of mine is the same principle. Only time I've ever had a rod pop out is if I get hung...at which point my holder will swing on it's base and the rod will try to pull out. Never lost one though. I've seen this question asked several times on the main board and the answer always seems to be that the Hi-Teks work like a charm for pulling cranks from any position. I'd go for it. Plus Scot Echols is a heck of a nice guy and will make tweaks to the holder if you need it.

Thanks WB. I knew that you would know. You may not know how to catch fish but you do know how to rig a boat. Thanks.

What about the Bee-Ready rod holders? Anybody know the site where I can look at these?

Looked at them too. Look to be fair holders, but they've got plastic mounts and require more bolts to adjust. Just seemed a bit more complicated than necessary.

Its looking like the Hi Teks are really good ones.

I'm on my second set of HiTek's. The first set went with my last boat I sold. I have tried the Driftmaster's, Titeloks, and I have BeeReady's on my Pontoon. In my opinion the HiTek's are the best available not even considering the money difference. Scott is a great guy to do business with.
