Your opinion please..if I tied a brick to a single cane, would the cane stand up
and not float the brick? I don't think that the 5 gal bucket method will work on the steep sloped rocky bottom I want to sink it in. I thought I could toss off 15 or 20 canes/brick in close proximity. Whatdaya think?
You mean the small red brick or the bigger cinder blocks?
I would use a tree tied with a concrete block on each end to hold it down, then you could place it on the slope and it shouldn't slide down.
cinder blocks would work but i dont think red bricks would work
If there's much current at all you cane and brick will be swept away. It will also be much easier to move/displace the cane and brick should it become snagged.
You would be surprised at how well the bucket or masonry block filled with concrete stand up! With enough canes and weight at the bottom, the canes slow the fall and the weight will bury up the concrete/block in the mud making it difficult to move.
The buckets will be alright unless it is really steep.
I use 12" concrete block and fill the cells with concrete then just put the cane in the concrete. It works with sticks too. They work good on slopes even in current.
We make bundles of 15 cane about 16ft tall. Then sink that with 4 12 inch block on them. They stand up without any bottles or anything.
