How important is it? I've only seen 1 video where the guy used one. I'll buy one if it is needed.

How many jig do you tie using hair? If you tie a lot of hair jig and not so many feathers then you may want one. Works well when needed, but don't always need it even if tying hair. Can be very handy though too.

You have one included with the box I sent. You can also use the hair stacker with feathers i.e.; pheasant tails, peacock herl (from the eye), ostrich herl........
I use a stacker with a fair amount of regularity. I tie a slew of kiptail-calf tail jigs. Most of mine are 1/80 oz on a #8 hook. I find if the hair is a little wild, I can stack it down level enough for the look I like in the hook gap. I don't recall the last time I stacked the slightly longer top hair. (actually the belly as it rides in the water) Illinoisgiller
I have 2 sizes of hair stackers. I use them when tying small flies for fly fishing. I never use it for tying jigs. Just me.
I never use one unless I'm spinning deer belly hair. I like the natural tapering lengths on hair, looks better than all the tips together. Just my .02. If it gives you the results you want, use it!
I have one but havn't used it in years.
I Use mine for tying flies not for jigs . You probaly don't want all the hairs even on you're jig anyway.
