Does anyone have a recommendation for a water separating fuel filter? Is one better than another? Also, my 1987 Mercury 150 XRII is stored inside a heated garage. I drained the fuel tank in the fall when I put on a new fuel line, and for various reasons, haven't used it since. Do I need to run some conditioner through it? I use Sea Foam regularly. I ran the carbs dry last fishing trip before heading home.
Any rated for 10 microns will work. I like Racor with the drain on the bottom of the cannister.
I used the same kind of Racor as Bill on my 24-foot skiff/210 Cummins. It worked fine, just remember two things.
Put it between any filters on the motor and the fuel tank, and always have a spare cartridge aboard!

After I read an article on these filters I bought a Yamaha. They have 2 sizes. They were the top dog in the article. The big one is $60. Yamaha installs these filters on most of their big boats. I don't know where the size of the motor staarts but I know the 90 HP has one installed in the boat. It does NOT have the drain on the bottom! I can see where that would be a nice feature.
thanks for the answers on the fuel filter. I would still like to know the answer to the second part. If I start it up to run conditioner through it, I will have to have gas in the tank. I wanted to leave the tank empty until I started back fishing, if possible. After this post, I read Yankee Doodler's post in December and got my answer, I think.
