Are you talking about okeentanie,if so when you leave the ramp go just past the bridge about 50 yards and you will see a light pole.we pull up to the bank by that pole and double anchor so the boat is perpendicular to the bank siting over the steep drop off.Fish minnows deep,i usually send em to the bottom then bring em up a crank or 2.I never have tried this during the day always at night and have tore'em up countless times.
I second that. During the day go out to the mouth and fish up along the reeds believe the area is called Kingsbay or something.
ditto........it should look like a floating city after dark. water is prolly a bit cold even for the early spawners on kings bar....I'd stick to the chanel edge at the mouth, or near shore dropoff as sliknquik stated above.....heard indian prarie, & harney pond canal has been pretty good......let us know how it goes
A buddy of mine fished indian prarie all day last week and caught only 2 catfish and a short spec.I have been twice this year and have done well at nite(got our limit both times)then daytime comes and we couldnt hardly buy a bite.
in the mid 90s we primary fished indian praire at night. it was good cause if the wind was blowing it was a lot calmer than the kiss river but i have heard since then it has really been fished out.
I agree indian praire is more comfortable when the weather kicks up but I would disagree that it is fished out.........crowded at times,YES, but even when its crowded people are still catching quality fish.....as sliknquik stated above, he's limited twice so far......I believe spots like Harney Pond, Indian Prarie, Kissimee River, Nubbins Slough, & others, are what some refer to as replenishing spots.........roaming open water fish, find these areas and it suits there needs at a particular time so they just stay.....obviously some times are better than others, but generaly speaking, when the crappie find areas like these they stay for a while...fortunately for guys like us, our grandparents, & parrents figured it out & saved us countless hours of mindlessly floating around wondering where to fish!!
I hope this did'nt come across like I jumped up on a soap box.......I'm just trying to say the areas we have been talking about can still produce good fishing if you hit it right....& of all the spots Chobee has to offer...these are still among the mot reliable.....
