Mississippi River

Has anyone here ever spent any time fishing Mississippi River Pool 13 near Sabula? It has a good look to it and I think I'm going to give it a try in the spring. Anyone know any good spots thereabouts?

I spent several days in Oct fishing Pool 11 near Cassville, WI. The fishing was awful. Besides a 5-lb catfish (I landed while fishing for crappie!), nothin. But the water was high and weedy. I dunno if that's usually a good place to fish or not, but it sure wasn't last month.

Anybody fish the river much around here?

You are in prime Crappie territory in that area. Just get back in any of the many back water & oxbow areas and work the wood. Many Crappiethon & other tourneys have been won right in that general vicinity. I'd have to show you, couldn't tell you the areas we fish around there. GPS is a good thing. The back areas can start to all look the same in a big hurry there. Pools 12 & 13 are just about the best that the 'ol Miss will offer 'round these parts. Tons of 1lb+ fish to be found. Luck to ya!
