Too many wheat thrasher fisherman!
I have been fishing Lake Yale for 53 years (also Lake Eustis and lots of smaller lakes in the area) and I must report that it is overfished. There are several RV parks on the lake that put hordes of meat fishermen on the lake almost every day. I have seen as many as 6 boats with 8 poles each running together just like farmers in a wheat field - legal but not honorable. :DFish at night with lights and minnows in front of pads (will start soon) and usually pick up small males first just after dark, the the 12 inch females with eggs arrive around 8 PM. Cull anything under 11 inches and keep around a dozen 11 to 14 inch biggins - usually done by 10:30 PM. HINT: get a 12 to 14' aluminum boat with a small motor and fish the smaler lakes from Leesburg to hwy 50. Also, go to Astor and fish Lake Dexter or Lake George for some real action - this is where the locals go to get away from the crowds. I have some good spots with GPS in the above mentioned lakes for info trade. PS: JUST KEEP ENOUGH FOR A MESS OF FRESH FISH - don't need to show off with a freezer full.
