Outboard in freezing temps.

Is it ok to keep a boat with a out board in the water over night in freezing temps? Will the power head drain down to the water line and not freeze the block?

You are correct. All water will drain down to the lake or river level.

I had read somewhere on Boats for Sale, New Boats, Used Boats, Boat Parts - iboats.com that you can do exactly that but what you have to be careful about is that the lake does not freeze over. If it
does,then the water that is up in that part of your motor can freeze at that level blocking water flow up to the powerhead. If you should try and start your motor under such conditions,you risk overheating since water can't get up to the powerhead due to being blocked off by the water that has frozen at
point or level. I'd be very careful doing that. In fact,I would pull the boat out of the water and make sure your motor is down so water can drain out. If left tilted up,you risk water being trapped in the prop hub,and if it freezes,you
risk damage to seals and lower uint. My old Evinrude does not have the thru-hub exhaust,so I should not have that problem to worry about water getting trapped in the prop hub and freezing.
