Dying feathers?

Similar to the thread about dying hair, what would you use to dye Bobwhite down (marabou) feathers......specifically florescent colors (besides cool-aid)? Something that won't leave them all matted up. The makeup is not so much down, as there's about half of it that's solid light brown feather with the black stripes in them. They're a fairly light grey to almost white otherwise. I've got bookoodles of them under my quail pens, and they make a mean lookin' jig.

I've been using Cushing's perfection dyes for years now to dye bucktails,squirrel tails,marabou,kiptails and assorted duck feathers.Very happy with all their dyes except black.I tried to dye some white kiptials and they turned out gray.I may have to dye them twice to get black.Great color selection as well.One package will dye a pound of materials,dry weight.For smaller amounts I use less dye.

So, for feathers (marabou), would you use "Acid" or "Direct" dye ( Dyes and Equipment )

Cushing's is an acid dye.all's you need is white vinegar to set the dye.
