Trying to find some information on someone who had mounted a transducer sideways to scan horizontal under docks. Thinking of trying the idea with a secondary transducer, but wanted opinions from someone who already has done this. I just thinking out of the box for those po guys who can't afford the SI yet. I saw a DVD produced by Grizzly Jig about fishing on reelfoot. They had a segment on a transducer mounted this way. I tried it "a little" but never could get it to work. Let us know if you get any good info.

Yes, it will work. You can find stuff to the side. Just takes practice to interpret the screen.

I Had The Bottom Line Side Finder With 2 Transducer's And Loved It But It Finally Shot Craps And The New Side Finder's Are Out Of Sight For $$$. I Will To Mount My Eagle On The Side And See What Happens???? Cp What's The Difference In What You See.????
I'm no genius, but it think it would work once you figure out the shape of the return signals. With the fish symbols turned off, and the unit in sonar mode it should interpret fish under floating docks. I think also that the 20 degree cones on the transducer would work better than a wider one and also you would get clutter from the top edge of the water. But it's a thought and was wondering what everyone's opinions would be. It's a great time to install this concept on my boat since I'm having to replace the steering unit, and I could purchase and additional transducer for my HD and run both through a selector switch. That way I could cruise the floating docks and check underneath for fish. Thanks to everyone for the replies. Rollcaster..........................

I used this up in the buck brush to help isolate where the fish are located (in the spring). Takes a little practice.
I am retired. Rigging devices like this keep me occupied.:p
I now have SI on my Jon Boat.
