im getting rdy to buy a new mold from do-itmolds.com the one im looking at is item number 1015 round head jig they go from 1/80oz to 1/4oz and i know that the majority of yall use this style of jig to tie with my question is this?
what size of jig head do u like to tie with and what size would u recommend that i use to tie and for the ties that sell ur finished product what size do u sell the most of.

Josh- I don't really sell any jigs but you can't go wrong with a 1/16 or 1/32. I like a pair of 1/16 jigs on the end of my line
Makes one of each size . Which is good for someone just starting. If you stick with it in the future you will be wanting to pour more of one size.
Size of jig will depend on when and where and what you fish for. For example since I icefish I pour quite a few smaller jigs 1/32 oz and under. Walleye fishermen usually use an 1/8oz and up.
I pour three major types the round head no collar, minnow head and the pony jig. Due to Snake River's pictures of his fine looking jigs I just bought a tapered tube jig mold that casts 4 - 1/32 oz and 4- 1/16 oz.
I find it hard to argue with the 1/16 oz in any configuration. Only thing it may be a tad big for bluegills but seems to slay about everything else.
My favorite sizes are 1/32,1/24 and 1/16 for crappie.I can put a bigger hook than normal in my 1/32 mold. For gills 1/80 to 1/32 in sizes 6-12. I just started sauger fishing from the bank and caught five my first trip.I was throwing 1/2 oz on a 4/0 jig hook with a stinger hook. Variety is the key for me,can't fish for just one species.
Sell mostly 1/16. Seems to do it all in most situations. Next 1/32 and then 1/8th, also occasionally get a large number of 1/64-1/80th orders towards ice fishing season...
I would pour 1/16th on #4 hooks and 1/32 on #6es. Should be all you need unless you want something specialized (walleye jigs, ice fishing jigs, ect).
Well, depends on how you are fishing.
For me I usually stick with a 1/8 oz jig, but that is clearly for cast and retrieve only since I need a little weight to get my jig out there and work it near bottom. But if I'm fishing at the docks or pier I usually go with a 1/16 oz or 3/32 oz jig since you are just dangling your jig down and waitin for a bite.
Also for slip corking, they usually fish with a 1/16 oz to 1/32 oz depend on wind situation.
For cast and retrieve we tend to stick with 1/8 to a max of 5/16 oz sometimes when the wind is up to 25 to 30 mph.
I mainly pour 1/8 and I usually pour 1000, so I don't have to pour them for a while.
I pour 1/16 and 1/32 collarless jigs the most for tying. I also pour 1/16 and
1/32 with barb for plastics. I do make some 1/8 and 1/4 for smallies and northern. I don't have a mold but do use some 1/64 and 1/100 oz for gills and ice fishing.
