depending on where you live, you may have to get a permit from any number of places. Here where I live in Tn. no permits are required. Insurance is not a must but without it your may be sticking your head out. All entrants should have liability ins. on their boats at a minimum. If you'll look for crappie club sites (Middle Tennessee Crappie Club) on the internet you could learn a lot there.
best thing to do is check with dnr in your state, each state varies on what you need for a tourney.
small tourney=2 guys in one boat trying to outdo each other, everything else just gets larger, more boats, more people, more rules.--shu
Start by calling the operators of the lake the tournament is to be held. they will help you.
Most times it only takes holding it.
Slabber, I',m a member of the ariz crappie assn, they have 2 derbies a year, the Bob Hirsh classic and the spring crappie fest, either be a member of the Az bass zone or the club, they have the derbie and a big fish fry afterwards, and the club gets involved in crappie conservation working with the game and fish
Good deal, will definantly see you this spring.Remember, the Bass Tracker leaning to the side from the livewell being full, lol.
