I have 2 batteries in the rear of my Bass Tracker.One hooked up to the main engine 40 hp Mercury and the wiring harness,the 2nd to the front trolling motor.Is there a way to hook both the batteries together so when the engine is running it will charge both batteries instead of just the one?
If you hook them positive to positive and negative to negative, you will get the results your looking for but you have to realize a few things. First of all, you won't get that much of a charge out of your engine unless you run it a lot. You will be taking the chance of exhausting both batteries with your trolling motor thus possibly leaving you stranded without enough power to crank your engine. With the batteries connected this way, your voltage will stay the same but you will increase your amperage draw reserve which can be a good thing. In short, its best to leave them seperated. You can buy an adapter out of bass pro that will isolate and charge your other battery off of your cranking engine but again your gonna have to do a lot of running with your Mercury to see any benefit. Bass fisherman often do this because they run great distances between holes and are able to take advantage of it. Hopes this helps.
I am not a bass fisherman,but have been useing my trolling motor a lot more since I started spider rigging and pushing crankbaits.The batteries are easy to get to so,I just switch them out when running from spot to spot,to recharge them a little.I was just wondering if there was an easy fix.

There are a few other products out there but this is one example. Maybe a little more $$ than it's worth for you? Don't know your situation but I would consider adding a second battery for your trolling motor. This way you add capacity to your trolling motor system without worrying about using up valuable power for cranking your motor.
Now you can explore Roosevelt Lake more without worrying about paddling back to Schoolhouse ramp from the Tonto end of the lake...:D

I've given the all charge a try and i'm not impressed with it. I'm a crappie fisherman so i dont tend to use my motor for an hour or so at a time traveling all over the lake to try to charge my batteries. I have a 90HP motor too. Probably made for the bass guys but i wont endorse it for the panfish guys. I do love my stayncharge original tho. I get a pretty good charge traveling back and forth to and from the lake every time.
