My neighbor is cleaning up an old woods and we found about 20 concrete posts that are 9ft long by about 8 or 10" square. They are reinforced and have eyes at each end, although most of the eyes aren't in great shape.
I'm thinking if these could be formed into tripods in 15-20' of water they'd make great cover that would outlast all of us, but I can't imagine how to get them to stand up until they were tied together without a diver.
Anybody have any ideas?
Maybe they would make good weights to place on top of brush pile to hold it in place??;)
Check your local regs before putting something like that in a lake. That could really destroy a lower unit in low water conditions.
I figure I'd have to clear it with the managers of the lake I have in mind. It doesnt drop in the winter, so I could be pretty sure of keeping plenty of water over them. Seems like a waste if they just get used for fill.Quote:

How much do they weigh? I would figure at least a couple hundred pounds each. If so, that may be a little too heavy to deal with out of a boat with several of those attatched together.
I think these would work great if you have a body or two that you need to get rid of :)

I was actually thinking that I could hang them under a pontoon boat by dragging them into the water at the ramp, with a rope at each end, then pulling the ropes up front and back.
The only idea I've gotten that seems at all practical is to take three posts, get some pipe to hold the legs apart and tie the three posts together at the other end, making a tripod. Assemble it in the water, just deep enough to submerge them, then lift them by the tops and carry them to their final location.
Seems like it's going to be more trouble than it's worth, but they'd be some serious attractors.
