Want is going on @ Lake Chicot

I went to Chicot today to do a little crappie fishing and drop a few more condos in the water and was expecting to see the lake full but boy was I surprised. Last week I went over there to drop 5 condos off in the lake and the water was about 2 feet from running over the dam and today Ditch Bayou looks like the Saline River with the current running faster than I've ever seen it. The gates are wide open, I thought the Corp was going to let the lake come up natural. Why are they letting the water out again.:mad::mad: Anybody got any idea on what is going on down here.

Hey Ben....good to hear you are still working on those condos. It was my understanding that the lake would stay down until the first of the year.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard that about the lake. That's going to mess up my fishing hole for the winter. Heartbreaking for sure!! I guess I need to make a few more condos for the deep water. I'm about to break my back on these things.

Have you heard if they are going to pump the lake up after the first of the year or let it come up naturally?

Now that I don't know about. Maybe Mojorig will see this post and let us know.

All this water fallin' from the sky has put a current in Ditch Bayou and it will run till the lake si back to 106 or so I hear.

I'm suppose to go to Pecan Groove and meet some friend 10/28-11/01. I wonder if there will be any crappie to be caught anywhere within 30 miles or so? We wanted to go to Cane Creek but they are booked up for "Boo In The Park".

James, I might would be tempted to try Grand Lake if I were in that area. The high water doesn't affect it quite as bad as most of the other lakes around there.

I looked at Grand Sunday. 4+ feet above normal and ramp is deep under water. Had gone down some yesterday but still very high. Grand is slow to drain. Got more rain last night. Washington has been luke warm this week. Have caught a lot of small fish but have had some nice ones too.
