I am NEW to crappie fishing, and I am very interested in some sort of crappie condo/ artificial brush I have read about on here.
From what I've gathered is part of the key is algae growth on these structures. Would it be wise to sand on the PVC to rough it up? Just dawned on me that it may help the algae to start going if I sanded the PVC some or maybe a lot.
Opinion's on this?:confused: One of my next steps is to find out the legality of sinking some home made structures. :)
Where are you located? Someone here might be able to tell you if it's legal or not to place structure in your area.
You'll probably get mixed opinions on sanding the PVC. Almost every thread that someone talks about making structure out of PVC, someone will say that you should sand it to improve/speed up algae growth. I seriously doubt that it matters much, IMO.
I had another brain fart last night..........would drilling small holes into the pipe also help? making more surface area for the algae, or would that just make more possible snags?
I live in Ohio and would be fishing some of the MWCD lakes and Salt Fork lake as possible structure areas. I just haven't made the effort to ask any authorities about the structures yet.
Just put em out when nobodys lookin and it dont matter......plus youl have em all to yourself!!
