What to do, what to do, what to do....? Either hard or soft water, I'm open for any suggestions.
I have a bunch set aside to just paint and attach some wax worms to if I get some decent ice this year. Think I got about a month & a half worth last year. :rolleyes: I have some 1/80 & 1/100 trout heads to play with too.
I bought some of some "crappie" jigs and painted up about 5 of them and am having problems figuring out what to do with them myself. Please keep us updated as I would really like some ideas on where to go with them.
Heck, paint them up and go fishin, they work all year round. Gills Love'um tipped with a spike or wax worm.
As for painting, i have used, vinyl,finger nail polish, acrylic craft paint, and even powder, i like to use a heat gun with the powder, but you have to watch the heat, and DONT bake them, i just give them all a coat of epoxy.
Jann's Netcraft sells them all the time. They work well.

I have the molds but have yet found the time to actually pour any lead into them... keep getting more... perhaps someday i will actually pour some lead... LOL
I have some 1/80 in just a ball head jigs with #8 & #6 regular bend hooks and I would use them just like other jigs. I also have 1/64 in regular bend and sickle hooks up to #4 and plan on using them long line trolling this next spring. Also when the big bluegills come in I want to get after them with these too.
Also is one other option I have some tungsten beads that are the size of 1/80 and weigh a good bit more than the 1/80 which I can't wait to try out.
The tungsten is already colored, but the lead I will powder paint and oven cure just like the bigger ones I hope anyway.
I would think lone line trolling such a light small jig head will make it really almost like float along. I think the picky fish will go after that easier.
Since we don't have ice here I can't help with that much, LOL!

I try 1/64oz. All the time generally I paint them with vinyl paint either use hackle or marabou or hair they work well on bluegill crappie strike them quite regularly I use bright paint such as chartreuse and fluorescent red but if I was going out for bluegill I would use watermelon or a light brown or black
we use lots of them around here for panfish and trout throught the ice and put a mealworm or waxworm on them and under a bobber in the summertime to. We use the bright colors around here. paint them up and hit the water you will catch some fish for sure.
