Powder Paint

Has anyone had a jar of powder paint go hard. I sold two jars to a friend that I did not like the color of and he said they went solid. I asked if they were left in the car and he said yes for one day. Could the heat from being inside the car cause the paint to harden?

If the paint was in the car during the summer months, I would say yes. This time of year I don't believe the temperature would be high enough to do any harm.

This was about two weeks ago.

I have some still in the shed I bought six years ago. They are still fresh and useable. Popder paint has a great shelf life. Keep it in a cool and dry area with the lid screwed on tight. No problem for me.

Heat will sure turn it into a rock. Keep it cool and it last.

Absolutely!!

Cool and dry – very critical. Have some 8-9 year old stuff that is still very usable.

Yes they will harden up if left in the car. This same topic came up over on Tackle Underground and the guy took a fine mesh screen and used it to turn it back into powder and tried it.

He said it worked okay, so all you can do is give it a try it and see.

Thanks for the info I will tell him about the screen if he still has the paint.

You might want to try dumping the paint on a pane of glass or a mirror and crushing the paint using the back of a spoon before sifting it. You’re almost better off tossing the paint and starting over.

BTW Cadman use to have some free samples of paint – you might try a PM to him…
