what is teh diffrance in the insight map and the us base map by lowrance:D:D

the insight map has more details on certain lakes. The one I got whn I updated has ALOT more details of Ross barnett, Grenada and a few more lakes than the one that came with mine. Actual contours of the lake bottoms, not just here's old lake bed number 1 and here's the old river channel. ALOT more accurate on location within the old creeks, lakes and ditches

DonDon's got it right. Insight has a lot more detail and more lakes with detail. Good deal, especially if you travel a lot as some map cards limit you to specific regions. A real problem if you travel E/W from AL or N/S from KY.

Does insight and other mapping work in Hummingbird units, or is it brand specific to Lowrance?

I do believe it works in hummingbirds

Insight is the pre-packaged and pre-loaded TM for Lowrance, H'bird's are NVB. I think Navionics provides both, although I also understand the NVB is out of date by 2 years, so H'bird users should go for the card. Haven't heard the same on the Insight though, although it's only been out about 6 months or so and should be about as current as can be had.

Navionics makes maps for all units, but you have to get the specific card that will work in your unit....if there's a question, go to their site and look it up. Not all work with all units.
