creek/river fishing
when looking for crapping when fishing the rivers I would like to get into the creeks, which the 2 I would like to try is about 8 ft deep when crappie are deep as the agfc weekly reports suggest are they in the creeks or using the river as a main way of moving around and should I just keep on targeting the creeks?? and with very low visibility what colors or set up should I use?

I don't know much about river fishing at all. I guess if that was the only place I had I would learn too though. Eight feet dose not seem very deep to me. I hate fishing in a current and I think crappie do not stay in a current very long either. I think I would look for an eddy or an inside bend in the river out of the current. Isn't there a slack water harbor in Fort Smith? That would be one of my targets too. Might be some good fall fishing in it.
As far as feeder creeks;
Where they join the main river is usally shallow from silt in my experience. Just before the mouth will have some deeper water.
I wished I could help you more. I look at the river everyday on my job. I just don't fish it much.
OH Yea.....I can't stress enough about trolling bandits or spider rigging to learn new water. I started this summer and have really enjoyed it. I may not always catch the species I am after, but, I have not been skunked one time this summer.

In the river last week I noticed small balls of bait fish moving in to shallow water so keep checking the creeks.Sooner or later they'll move up the creek into shallow water all the way to as low as 2 to 1 foot deep.IN low visibility try dark colors and spinners like the road runner heads or beetle spins.
