Don't know of many crappie spots but do know it's going to be loaded with boats and water lice being Labor Day Weekend. You may try some of the docks.
Don't know if you'll see this in time, but .... my advice would be to fish Herrington at night. It's not the greatest Crappie lake, in the daytime, this time of year ... the water is still a bit warm. Also, as Downwind has mentioned, this is the "supposed" end of the season for most of the water sports boaters ... their last big hurrah for the year. So, if you do go during the day, get back into the creeks and fish around deep water docks. If you can't, or don't, get into the creeks ... try fishing in the "no wake" zones, either around the cliffs or around the deep water docks.
Just be aware of the fact that all the docks are private property ... so don't be tying up to them ;) Some of the creeks have some standing timber in farily deep water, and would be a good place to try (day or night) ... but, don't spend more than one hour in a spot, if you're not catching fish.
FYI ... Herrington Lake has no size limit, and a 30 fish/angler/day creel limit.
... luck2ya ... and give us a report on your trip.
And Welcome to Crappie.com !!
