Finally got a chance to get out Saturday morning for several hours. Got to stay out until 2:00 because the boat traffic was gone, but the sun came out and it was like any other Saturday. Believe it or not, these fish came in 40 fow about a foot off the bottom on redworms. As long as Dad keeps catching these kind of fish, I'll never get to start chasing crappie lol. They ran about an 8-9 inch average.

Nice...Some fat chunks, how did you know those were in 40 ft, sonar, or previous experrience, cuz I would have never looked that deep(isnt there a thermocline above that depth rite now??):confused: Nice catch:D

You know them dudes have been eatin good in the neighborhood, when they got them humped shoulders :p ... you'd know them was big, even without the tape measure !!
Couple two or three of them "crackers" ain't no slouches, either :D

Those are some good ones. Good eating and a lot of fun to catch I would think.

Really nice mess of bream!!! I'm supprised they were that deep this time of the year. You can crappie fish some time when these beauties are in hiding. Illinoisgiller

We didn't know to look that deep for them other than we were not having any luck in 20 fow like we did before. We stuck to the golden rule and started fishing the bluff walls and they were just there on the bottom. We checked the depth with the two depth finders I have on my boat. I know...we could not believe it either.

I'm headin' to the Holler tomorrow for 2 days to catch some of these. Please tell me you caught them there.
Last Sept. we caught the big crackers right on the bank for a few days. Then a few days later they were right back deep again. Go figure.
