Pete, about those Lake Norman Stripers...

It's really great to hear that you're doing so well with those fish. A buddy and I have been out about 3 times in the last 2 weeks and have only caught 1!!! We're mostly slow trolling live minnows, and not having much success. I've really been thinking about what you talked about on the old board, regarding bottom fishing with cut bait. Would anchoring up on the shallow side of a long point and spider casting towards the deeper water prove productive? Should I slowly retreive the bait, or let it sit? Most of the points I've noticed on Lake Norman run from 5-10ft near the shore to a 20ft flats area, then off to 30+ ft of water. Should I be anchoring up in the 5-10ft and casting in the 20ft. area? Thanks in advance for any wisdom you care to share. At the very least, it's nice to read reports of other fellas catching the linesiders!

the key is to fish there late in the evening....we anchor up well ahead of the point in 25 ft of water. the fish roam the shallows after dark. so your ideal debth would be in 5-15 ft of water!!

an inportant thing is if you net bait, cut the tail off before you toss her out....makes a heck of a difference!! These fish we have been catching the past few days have been fishing of the bank.....McGuire (hint hint) :D

Thanks Pete! I'd really like to make an evening trip sometime, but have yet to do so. I don't want to steal your honey-hole. I'm thinking of a nice point in Davidson Creek that I'll fish like you've described. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

ive heard great reports of nice fish being caught up lake near the damn above the 150 bridge. ide fish a point up that way some if i were you. i really dont venture out to far from the south side of the lake
