Those are some good Crappie Bill!!! Conditions are changing on Lee and that was a good catch. My buddy Larry from Crossett fished Lee yesterday and said water was pouring into Lee from the River at the inlet and as of yesterday afternoon it was muddy up even with the radio tower on the East bank of the Southern end. The current and muddy water will probably have the Crappie pushed back to the curve or even further by this weekend. They can still be caught.....just have to take the time to locate 'em. If the water is a little muddy will take a little different strategy with jig type and color also. It will be a challenge...but hey...that is what makes Crappie fishing all the more fun. If you could go out there every day and kill'em it would soon get boring.
Nice!!!
Probably so Steve, but I'd like to see for myself! :D The water color was the same way today on the south end. It'll be worse tomorrow I figure. I found most of the fish in front of Wayside landing. I went to a bright chartreuse color for my best results but I had to leave early. If we get that full 6 foot rise or more, they may move back into the trees again. But, like you say, we'll find 'em!:)
nice catch bill....you oughta have a freezer full by now
You know I can't fish the trees! Takes a REAL crappie fisherman to do that. I would stay hung up more than I was fishing! I just drag those jigs across the open water and see what bites! My wife has a cousin from Hamburg who Strictly jig fishes with a single pole and REALLY talks bad about my trolling. I believe he thinks that ain't "playing fair" with the fish! He has to "feel the thump". I also like to "feel the thump" when I set that hook on a twitching rod tip.....believe me, there ain't nothin' like it. I like it to feel like you have hung your jig on an old boot at the bottom of the lake at first then have it take off and try to take the rod away from you. I have also found that when they ARE into the trees there are still plenty of large slabs to be had trolling over the deep water. I just can't sit still for very long...have to be moving.
Shows 28.5 Sat----will that shut em down. Thinking about trying it Fri and Sat. I can't stand looking at those pictures any more, gotta try it.
Nice job again.
I do whatever it takes!! :) :) I just like catching 'em. I get that same rush just like you say and also when I feel that jig being attacked! I do think the better size and numbers are caught suspended in deeper water by whatever means. There are those times when the catchin' is hotter in the shallows. You just gotta know the difference. What did you call it? "Crappie Fishin'"? And I have friends just like you describe. Whatever butters their bread! My friends call it "cheatin'" when I spider rig. What? Me care?? You gotta' be kiddin'!! :D
Oh well - The winners tell jokes while the losers holler "DEAL" - LOLOL !! :D :D
