Took trip to Mellwood and white river nwr lakes

Spent three days fishing Mellwood and several lakes on east side of White river NWR went with soninlaw and grandson had a great time ate plenty of fish spent time with good company Mellwood crappie was slow caught enough to make trip worthwile but no great size caught most on jigs tipped with minnows about 5 ft deep in 8 to 9ft water after fishing mellwood went to white river nwr east side most of the lakes were really low some were only 4 ft deep at the center but regardless caught a few crappie but really caught a lot of blue gill and warmouth on jigs about 12 inches deep around cypress trees and any cover sticking up had a great time but as allways I believe we misssed the best fishing by a few days water seemed to have fallen out of lakes last week.
