Jig Design - Tail Feather Question

I was surfing the web last night, looking for information about feather jigs for bass, when I found this page. It shows BPS Slab Daddy's crappie jigs.

Does anyone have an idea of why their tail feathers have the tips removed? I am not trying to criticize it, just wondering if there is a legitimate reason for it that I'm unaware of.

I thought I might ask the seasoned crappie jig tyers of this board. Thank you for your input.

While it may do that when not wet, not sure it will make much difference when getting pulled through the water. Since they are tied in Haiti maybe they would need to answer that, LOL!

I feel that I get the same effect that these do by using my little V's. Don't feel the need to cut the tips and my customers seem happy with the outcome they get on the water. Maybe it's just something to catch the fishermen?

Besides the fact if you've poured jigs long enough and tied long enough they only cost you a few cents apiece to make not $3.59!!!! follow skips instructions on the V;s in the feathers they look way better
