Peckerwood and Cane Creek Report - July 11th weekend
Well guys, took a buddy of mine from work to Peckerwood Saturday the 11th and didn't do so good. Got there at 5:30am and was off the lake by 12:00pm.
Went to my regular holes and nothing! My buddy did manage (4) drums. Went to the canals and he caught a 13" black, went across the lake to the lilly pads and he caught another about 12", and about 4 shell cracker breams. However, he was a drum catching fool I tell ya.:D
I spoke to many of the folks coming in and they tell of the same story, they're not biting! Even Don at Red Barn said fishing is slow. However, speaking to a fellow at the launch and being a 20 year veteran of the lake say's come back in about 4 weeks when the water is low enough to see the stumps and the FISH!! - I'm there!
Cane Creek - July 12, 2009: Took the wife and dog to Cane Creek. Never been so what the heck! Well, it was about 101 Degrees, ran up on every stump imaginable. Had to use the big motor to get off. After about 1 hour on the lake - 30 minutes fishing and 30 minutes getting off stumps not one bite!
No, I don't know the lake very well but it look like it was about 1' lower than normal. We tried getting into the lilly pads but was very shallow and stumpy.
Nonetheless, had a wonderful weekend!
