Fish carcasses in your garden?

Does anyone here use your crappie carcasses in your gardens? A friend at work was having me save my carcasses for him to use in his garden because he said they are the best fertilizer you can use. Now I not much into gardening but I decided to build a 8'x4' raised tomato bed this year. I decided to use crappie carcasses in between each plant and a couple down the middle, about 8 fish in all. I can say without a doubt that these are some of the biggest tomato plants I have seen. They are loaded with green tomatoes and just keep putting on new growth and blooms almost daily. The main vines look like they are on steroids:eek:

I wanted to see if these really made a difference, so I planted one by its self and after about 6 weeks it is far behind in growth and fruit. I have since put a fish in the soil with it and it is starting to take off too. I must say I can't wait to have fresh sliced tomatoes and a batch of fried crappie in a few more weeks!:)

Yep this has been going on for a long time, in school I remember reading that the pilgrims had a hard time growing crops until the indians showed them this trick. My sister used to do it and seemed to work great, it also is good for worm beds. I guess the decaying fish puts nutrients in the soil.

No room in my garden for dead fish. EX-wife takes up too much space.:D

You should have saved the one out of my livewell. Could have grown some good tomato's with it.

Best Fertilizer For Roses

It does work i usually go to the creek and catch a bucket of perch when i'm planting tomato plants but this year i was trying to beat a big rain that was headed my way so i didn't do it this year,a little triple 13,chicken manure and miracle grow has got em lookin good,is anyone gonna have any ripe tomato's by the 4th?my garden was late and all i've had so far is about a dozen cherry tomato's.

just make sure thee buried good, ya don't want critters after the fish

Haha, shouldn't laugh but can't help myself, good one. IRS agents also make good tomato fertilizer but once they are ripe someone has taken a big bite out of them and left you half.

That's some damn funny stuff bwillaub and OSS! Did the ex-wife grow anything other than weeds?
