help with transducer location

Since I have never installed a fish finder I thought I could get some help from the "MEGA-BRAINS" that surf these boards.

I bought a Humminbird 160 several months ago but the directions for mounting the transducer had me walking in circles until I realized my head was up my butt. :confused:

The directions say to put the transducer in a spot that is away from turbulent water while moving. I am not sure of where that is on my boat because of the way the bottom is shaped.

Should I just put in the area where the screw already are, or should I move some where else?

It should work fine where the existing screws are, just make sure that when its mounted, the transducer is plum, level, & square( to the water not the boat ). Set it so the transducer is just slightly below the bottom of the boat, so it is runnig in undisturbed water. Also I read an artical that said to set your transducer to how your boat sets in water, not on the trailer, because your bow sets higher in the water than on a trailer. I changed the angle on mine and really couldn't tell any differance. Good luck !

Thanks, you confirmed what I was thinking. I'm guessing it will take a little while to get it set right.
