Fast change flat cure??

Sorry for the title error, supposed to be float change, not flat.
Fast snap

I think I found the cure for my quick change dilemma for my floats. This seems to be extremely strong, more than enough to simply hold a float on and would allow for a very easy quick change of a float when conditions need it. I tried one and I pulled like mad, actually cutting the line into my fingers and it didn't fail or even open very far so it passed that test.

Is there any reason that I couldn't put one on my main line with a float stop? Anything that might cause it not to work right?

Fish4, I use these on every jig & hook I put in the water. I even tie them into the dropper loops on my pre-tied rigs. Lets you change hooks/jigs in a jiffy, and they are stout. I like'em. Here's another place to get them a lots cheaper....... Snap Hooks - TJ's Tackle
I haven't bought any from them yet, but was gonna try pretty soon.

Cabela's has them too,I'm unsure of the price.Glad you found a solution.Maybe you can work on your swap jigs now.:D

I use them a lot and the only thing you need watch for if one is a bit sprung. You can tell this by it's easy to put a jig on and off. If you use one like that is can give that fish his freedom. Had it happen one time and actually had a leader snapped in it and then at the end a jig with minnow hook above the jig. Anyway the crappie was a really nice one and he jumped when I got him to the surface and the entire rig came off leaving me just the sprung snap, LOL!

Just make sure they are tight when putting jigs or what ever on and off.

I do like them a lot.

I am working on them but haven't perfected what I want yet. Have been working on my floats between doing them, and ripping them apart and retying and so on.

The only thing I can see with them not working is they might not set right to let the line run through them cleanly and smoothly. Will have to test them out to see.

I gave these a try with Power Pro 8lb line. The brand was Fas-Snap. I hung on wood at 16' and the snap straightened and left my jig on the wood. :mad:
Entire test lasted less than 5 minutes. I probably should have given them a better chance but the rest of them were given the chance to float---they sunk. lol Illinoisgiller

Giller. This is a response that I posted on another web site 5 years ago. I pertained to the same experience you had with the "Fas-Snap" connectors.

Only difference between then and now is that 100 Mustad connectors cost about $ 3.75 per 100 but you have to buy them in a 1000 ct box for that price.
Hagens always carried them until their most recent catalog came out and now they're not listed :( I'm sure they still have them in stock but I'd check with Shorty's, Capt Hook or some of the guys here who sell Mustad hooks and accessories.

I can honestly say that I've never had a Mustad connector break on me and I've been using them for around 20 years. I use Fireline all the time and the only drawback is that every once in a while, when the Fireline is old and getting flat, it'll slip right off of the clip ! (Fas-Snaps allow this to happen as well). Never had that problem with Mono before Fireline came out
as it doesn't flatten out.
I still give the Mustad connectors 5 stars !!

The only downfalls you'll encounter with the "No Knot" brand of fast snaps is breakage due to the fact that they're chrome plated and the plating process takes away some of the strength of the thin wire that's used to make them. The loop is also kind of small and restricts jig movement.
The price is also a quite steep compared to the "Mustad" line connectors which are brass, much stronger, have a wider loop, thinner wire because there's no plating, easier to put a jig on based on the design and best of all, vey reasonably priced.
You can buy 100 Mustad line connectors for what you'd pay for 15 "No Knot" fast snaps
They also come in 3 sizes but the smallest size is not recommended for ice jigs.
The medium and large sizes are perfect for all applications from 1/128th oz jigs through 3/4 oz jigs.
