Got someone wanting to buy my 1452. So looking at building a new boat, 1660 Legend Craft. Trying to lay it all out and looking at new trolling motors. I now use a Minn Kota 55lb hand controlled.
Thanks for any input.

I have 12/24 evinrude foot controlled very powerfull unit and well built
been using it for years lot of 15 hour days steady on the unit
runs strong into 20 mile hour wind.
never has broken down. turning arrow in head lights for night running
there are a lot of good ones out there just let you know how this one has held up. can get on e bay for around $400
I have a 542 War Eagle with a MinnKota 24v 70# trolling motor. Wind and current is no longer a problem! I had a Motor Guide once and had trouble with their customer service. Never had a problem with Minn Kota though. Actually, the problems were many years ago, so improvements have likely been made. I like the composite shaft in the MinnKota. It will bend and snap right back. I've bent some metal Motor Guide shafts and had to replace them.
Your gonna get as many choices as there are trolling motors. Buy a top of the line name brand with LOTS of thrust and a variable speed choice along with a maintained positioned switch and you'll probably be pleased. I use a Minn-Kota 80# Variable speed and it's quiet and tough. I have used Motor Guide and Evinrude. All are good motors. Composite shafts are available with every manuf as are different shaft lengths. Many have had trouble with the advanced electronic digital models so you could end up with a repair prone model there. There are some chat forums on the web you can visit for some really good information.
