    Default Lee Melting Pot Help

Lee Precision Production Lead Melting Pot IV Reloading 90009 and Lee Precision 20 LB Pro 4 Casting Pot Metal Melter 90947? Wanting a melting pot and can get both for the same price, what are the pros and cons of each, and which would you prefer. Thanks in advance.

I woud opt for the Pro 20# capacity. It is less prone to leaking, The IV 10# is a great little melter but is prone to dripping and has been named by many lil drippy. I have both and use both, Cannot complain about either model.

The 20# model takes a bit longer to heat up and IMO with the guide system is easier to use. The smaller footprint of the 10# makes it nice on the pouring bench

Been using the 10 lb pot since the 80's and like them - but if you can get the larger one for the same price I'd get the 20 lb.

I had a 20 and for no more than I do it was overkill, someone was glad to give me more than I paid. My 10lb has served me well and is more friendly around a crowded bench. Don't clean lead in either one.

Thanks for the help, I think I'm going with the 10lb production pot. I'm just making for myself and a few friends. I have already gotten a couple of molds and cleaned about 100lbs lead, just need to order my pot today. I've learned a lot about the process here on crappie.com now its time to put it to work.
