Thanks Chaunc,
I found this site with water depths. I knew Raystown was big but looking at the map each of those bays individually are bigger than the reservoir I normally fish. A lot of water to cover.

There are a lot of different lakes that can be found by zooming in.

These would be the first areas I would check after ice out with a jig and bobber. I’d fish as far back in there as I could get. You’ll know you’re in the right area when you see the locals on shore fishing. The key is to find wood or rock there. They’ll heat the water faster. Remember, I’ve never fished this lake so this is just an unproven estimation of what I’d do.
Raystown has trout in it. So I would make sure that a trout license is, or isn't required. But betting you have to have one, because of the trout.
They use to put trout in the Shenango River below the dam. But because of the pcb level getting so high, they changed to putting them in at Big Bend, before the lake. So I wanted clarification from the state of the change, and wanted clarification. If fishing and catching one, and not having a trout license, in the lake, you can't keep them, unless having the trout stamp.
Chaunc caught one last year in the lake, and released it. If he hadn't, and they had checked his catch, would have been fined.
we normally go to our camp in Sinnemahoning the first day of trout more for being at camp than trout fishing, when I take the boat we fish for perch and blue gill. if not bank fish for trout and BS. Even though I don't fish for trout I buy the license. Had a deputy tell me once I couldn't fish that lake in the extended season if I didn't have the trout stamp. Didn't make any sense to me but not worth the hassle so I just buy the license.
