20 HP on Shenango
Shenango River Lake4 hrs ·
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Shenango Lake has increased the 9.9 horsepower section of the lake to a 20 horsepower limit effective 24-MAY-2019. The limited horsepower area begins at the railroad trestle near Parker's Landing Boat Launch and extends to the mouth of Pymatuning Creek. This section totals 436 acres at summer lake level.
This change was made to be consistent with most nearby limited horsepower lakes which were converted to 20 hoirsepower limit years ago. The increase will improve boater safety as boats are generally larger now than when the 9.9 horsepower limit was set decades ago. Shenango Lake is a 3,500 surface acre lake. All other unlimited horsepower and slow no wake areas remain unchanged. Questions can be directed to the Shenango Ranger Station at (724) 646-1124 or the Resource Manager's Office at (724) 962-7746.
There is one area of thew lake, that use to be trolling motors only. Then they raised it to 10 HP. Have liked fishing that area, because your ride of the lake lice, barreling thru, with their jet skis, not that they haven't before.
