Please guys let’s keep this conversation going has there been any luck or skill catching those paper mouths lately. Kinda figured with the cold pounding on every species it would become a pattern of some sort. Deeper water close to shallow water I think is key correct me if I’m wrong. So where on Shenango is like that, back to the map I guess

Trouble is getting to the deep water. I refuse to puta boat in now, not enough water for me. I've got a spot that I will try Saturday that has deep water near by. The wind is keeping me off the lake right now. Cold doesn't help either.

Water temp is 37 degrees and lake level is down 6 1/4 feet.

I see they brought in some gravel to fill in the spots around the ramp at Parkers Landing. I knew it was bad but not that bad. The ramp doesn't have anything under the cement pads. You go off the pad on the side and your going to tear your trailer up big time.

i was thinking about heading that way either Sat or Sun water temp should be a couple of degrees warmer I would think that the fish should be moving up off their deeper staging area’s a little anyway

Fished Shenango Sunday slight covering of ice in most area’s, lake was still low, no takers

Looks like the movie " The birds" at the lake. Saw close to 5-7000 gulls around the lake yesterday. They sure are hitting the shad heavy. Water is so low that you can't get to the fish from shore. It's going to be at least another 3-4 weeks for the fish to move shallower if not longer. We need water. Just starting hear the large flocks of swans moving north. Usually when they come through it's about a month later before the crappies really turn on. No really warm weather in the forecast for the rest of the month. Going to take a while to get the water temp into the 50's. These cold nights are killing me. To cold to fish for walleyes and not enough warmth for the crappies to move.

Thanks Sparkie51 that will help a lot I definitely think your right only if we could get to the river channels from shore it might help
Sunday when I was there saw 4 boats out one boat was jigging for eyes for sure he may have caught 1 while I was there my fiancé said she heard someone say I got one but didn’t hear much after that
Really wish this weather would give us a break

If you want to fish the river channel, then fish at the Tara launch, 846 bridge, Parkers Landing bridge, or even Hopper Road parking area, walk down over the bank.

Those are all good crappie spots. I fish them in April.

Forgot to mention Big Bend, but when trout season starts, would need a trout stamp, and that is all river. Also there is the railroad bridge, that you see from Rt 18, but it is a long walk from a parking lot off of West Lake Road, better fished from a boat. Have not been out yet this year, need to replace some line and get ready.
