    Yeah that's where I fish.
My advice to you would get there very early. Before light. And fish for Stripers till 8am. ThenFish crappies.
I use buck tail jigs 1/4 n 3/8oz with a curl tail added for the movement at the tail.
Fish cotton Cordell Redfin and bombers 5-7 in long. Any thing white or silvery. Look or listen for them trapping baitfish at the surface or near the banks.
Right now I would be fishing the weaver falls boat launch area and down.

Thanks for the reply and all the great info. It will help me a lot on upcoming trips. Use to live in Clearfield and fished there a lot with Standing Stone Bass Masters and had some good current info all the time. Now I live near Pittsburgh and get up a few times a year and it is always hard to decide where to start. Still my favorite place any where to fish. Always try spring and fall and during the week, because I know what summer and weekends are like!!! Thanks again!!!

Your exactly right. Your retired. Save that place for during the week trips.

Not sure if you're asking state wide info but I found the black crappies real shallow on Shenango lake yesterday. Any shoreline wood produced fish. Most are fat 9 to 10" fish with really thick fillets. Kept thirty for my brother Rueban. He said they have some very thick fillets and he and his wife are having them for dinner today. Didn't need any live bait or nibbles. They hit every jig I threw at them, plastic or hairjig under a bobber, 18" to 2ft down.

Same thing here. While fishing shallow for eyes I couldn't keep the crappies off the jig. One stretch I caught 18 fish with 18 casts. Caught somewhere in the 50+ range in a half mile of shoreline. All the fish were on the transition line of hard rocky bottom and sandy bottom. All fish were 8 feet or shallower. I wonder where all these big fish were during ice season. A very good year class of 11-13 inch fish on the nest right now.
